U.S. Supreme Court
May. 24th, 2009 03:58 amObama ready to make Supreme Court pick. So I'll let you know who his Top 5 choices are most likely to be. First of course it'll be a woman. No shut up. Seriously. No, it'll be a woman, so just shut up...
Right.
#5: Stephanie McMahon

Daughter of Vince McMahon aka the Billionaire Dollar Princess
Stephanie will bring some much needed ruthlessness to the bench. And if any lawyers or other Justices get uppity? Well then they can have a parking lot meeting with her husband and Sweet Lady Sledge...
#4: Lassie

What? Theres nothing in the Constitution that says a dog can't sit on the Supreme Court. Show me where it says that? Thats what I thought. You racist!
#3: June Cleaver

If she can handle the Beav then issues like right to privacy, prisoner rights and property rights will be no problem. And you knew she could always see right thru that smary Eddie Haskell...
#2: Jocasta

She doesn't wear any clothes, robots are wicked smart and I'm pretty sure she has laser eyes. What more could you want from a judge?
#1: Oprah

Because otherwise his momma done promised him a whuppin'...
Right.

Things I've Learned From Polls From Polls
Mar. 20th, 2009 02:17 am1) Darth Chewbacca, the Sith Strangler must face Sugar-Coated Macaque Putin
2) The preferred minor super-power would be the ability to speak both turtle AND tortoise
3) I shouldn't eat succulent babies. Which is totally unfair as they're SUCCULENT. Those are the BEST ones!
4) Popeye's financial plan is seen as the best for the nation
5) KRACKADOOOOOM!
6) The perfect gift for a loved one is to destroy their enemies
7) Results for who killed Mr. Body are inconclusive
8) Over a 1/4 of you don't want me to have a monkey butler. This makes me sad. And angry. And determined. MONKEY BUTLER YOU WILL BE MINE!
9) Its a toss up as to which would be scariest to find in your closet, bees or big spiders
10) Mork as the best roommate? Really? Williams during his coke years?

Jan. 21st, 2009 04:19 amI really need to stop reading George Will's editorials. Even as he lists the varied bungles and disasters of the out-going administration, he still can't resist saying that history probably won't judge the Bush presidency as harshly as many say. And just his ending:
You've killed my inauguration buzz Mr. Will. Thanks a fucking lot...
The president does not depart an angry man. He takes his leave with the serenity of someone sustained by a providential sense of history, as well as by wide reading of presidential histories, which contain many accounts of miseries. He leaves in eager anticipation of resuming life where he has been happiest, deep in the heart of Texas.
You've killed my inauguration buzz Mr. Will. Thanks a fucking lot...

From the college-themed web-comic Bobwhite. Its cute and funny. You should all go read it. Go on. I'll wait. I mean I won't be waiting HERE. But waiting. In general...
Still some hope
Nov. 6th, 2008 02:58 amWhile the majority of California voters decided to give in religious sponsored small-minded bigotry, there is a chance the whole thing will be invalidated. See it seems the proper procedures weren't followed before putting it on the ballot and so the ACLU has filed writ against it...
Thanks to
indigoskynet for finding this...
The California Constitution itself sets out two ways to alter the document that sets the most basic rules about how state government works. Through the initiative process, voters can make relatively small changes to the constitution. But any measure that would change the underlying principles of the constitution must first be approved by the legislature before being submitted to the voters. That didn't happen with Proposition 8, and that's why it's invalid.

So a quick question to SBG and Dunk and any other Libs. If you guys ever get a Congress-person or manage to take a state's electoral votes, what color do you plan on being? You should go with Green because it means money and also it would annoy the Greens if you stole their color before they could get someone in office...
Step back for every step forward
Nov. 5th, 2008 12:46 amIn other electionery, there were only 3 local elections I really cared about (though AZ did elect more Dems then Reps to the House): Prop 102 (anti-gay marriage) and Maricopa County Attorney and County Sheriff. Arizona voted to change our state constitution to define marriage as Man + Woman, which makes me sad. Florida passed a similar proposition as well it looks like (Prop 2 for them). California's Prop 8 is at 52% Yes right now with about a 1/3 of the vote counted. So there's still hope on that one at least...
As for the County officials, both Sheriff Joe and his County Attorney crony got re-elected. Though the C.A. vote was 51.6 - 44.1 and Joe had 55.5 - 41.9, with the leftover % going to the Lib canidate for each. Much closer than either has seen in a long while...
So in the midst of being thrilled with the big wins, I'm dissapointed that something as simple as equal rights for everyone can still be missed because too many are still scared of those "icky gays"...

All done, got sticker
Nov. 4th, 2008 08:19 amVoted. Took less than 1/2 an hour and thats with having to go back outside to my car for a 2nd thing with my current address on it. And despite making sure to register way early, still having to do a provisional ballot because my driver's license address is waaaaaaaaaay outdated...
In addition to the big election, I'm hoping locally that prop 102 (alter the state constitution to define marriage as between a man & a woman) goes down in flames. Also that Sheriff Joe FINALLY picks up a loss. 'Cause I hate him. Though thats unlikely. Even with a Lib AND a Democrat running against him (actually more than the usual number of Libs on the ballot this time, which should make SBG happy). But if not, theres supposed to be a good shot that his crony in the County Attorney's office loses his spot to a Dem challenger...

OBAMA: "My friends, I am a totally unoriginal grizzled character class stereotype. I should lead the party because I have more testicular damage than that one."
MCCAIN: Yeah, well, you pal around with dark elves.
OBAMA: OH NO YOU DIDN'T.
MCCAIN: Whatever, so's your mom.
OBAMA: So's your FACE.
MCCAIN: So's your Mom's face!
HILARY: WTF you guys. Why am I playing the cleric?
MCCAIN: Hilary, we've been over this.
HILARY: No, dude. I am so sick of being the girlfriend healer. Seriously, I can't even use a sword. Fuck this noise.
KUCINICH: IM A BARD
OBAMA: That's nice.
KUCINICH: MY FAMILIAR IS A PURPLE SNOW LEOPARD
MCCAIN: Oh, Jesus. Here we go.
