Still alive and within view of healthy.  Cat is still good.  Job is still job.

Back home after over a week in the hospital, thanks to a cut that developed into a diabetic ulcer and got infected and led to having it amputated.  Now several weeks of recuperation.

Got food poisoning from something I ate yesterday and its been leaving drained out and hammered flat all day.  Not sure what it might have been until I check to see how the roommate has been feeling...

At some point I'll stop being both congested with snot and exhausted and get to making the more substantive posts I planned to start the new year with...

...that won't be tonight though...

Stupid cold is still lingering. Mostly in a nagging cough that is keeping me from getting much in the way of sleep for the last week. But ignoring that, hoping everyone is having a good start to the new year. Hopefully it being my days off will let me rest up and finally put this holiday sickness away...

Trying to fight off a head cold that is attempting to migrate into my lungs. Bleargh...

As may have been noticed, there was no New Comics Day post last week. Which was due to not getting to the store because of a work thing. And it was a fairly heavy pull that week. As is this week. Like over a dozen titles between the two to go over. So between the size of this stack, the cold I've picked up, tomorrow's holiday and some continuing annoyance from a traffic ticket it will probably be a few days before I get a chance to talk about them...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a young man in his 20s who gets diagnosed with a cancer growing along his spine. One that, when he looks it up online, shows a survival rate of 50%. The movie then follows him as he enters chemotherapy and how his life in altered by his illness. Honestly I'm willing to watch Gordon-Levitt is most anything and he doesn't disappoint here. And he's nicely balanced by the more crude Seth Rogen, playing his best friend. Also worth seeing are the three main women in his life. The girlfriend played by Byrce Dallas Howard, his therapist by Anna Kendrick and his mom by Angelica Huston. Huston in particular is a treasure, and the director does well not to overuse her character...

Darkly funny at times and also bleakly sad. But I'd say genuinely as good as its criticism and praise makes out...

December Book List and Sunday Trade posts are planned. But I'm still dealing with the cold I picked up last week and its currently messing up my ability to sleep in a big way. And I'm going to be trying something slightly different for the Sunday Trade posts this month that will take a bit more work than normal...

1. Head full of snot. I'm just glad that it hit after my holiday vacation...

2. Registered the Kindle. But I couldn't get it log-in to the Baen Webscriptions site. It'll go there fine, but I couldn't open my account with them so that I could download my e-copies of the Grantville Gazettes onto it. Anyone with an e-reader who's used Baen know if there is a trick to it?

3. Hungee. Very, very hungee. Should cook...

4. Roomie has the pink-eye. I'm telling people its from his being a dirty hippie, Commie, goat-molester. Thats where the pink-eye comes from right?

I managed to do..something..to my back yesterday. Which I aggravated badly with my strenuous job of sitting, getting up to answer the phone and light lifting of coffee urns. And since walking from the bed to the kitchen for more Tylenol is still an comedic patch of mild agony I think I'll be taking tonight off...

1. People want to see A Tale of Two Cities meets The Terminator.

2. The principal use Time Travel has is for attaining Profit.

3. Even more than a shark or Sith Lord, no one wants Edward Cullen as a roommate.

4. Most popular comic strip movie choice is Beetle Bailey: AWOL. I see Matt Damon attached to it.

5. The main reason none of you selfish people have sent me my monkey is because you keep irradiating them in an attempt to create criminal super-apes.

6. Pixar's Duck Tales would in fact be the shit.

7. Instead of feeling sick it would be better to have a head full of sexiness, yummy pie or a Summer's day.

8. The use of time portals to summon dinosaurs will be stopped by a mastery of bureaucratic red tape and civic regulations combined with having a teen side-kick.

9. Full! Contact! Calvinball!

10. I should eat rye bread, shredded cheese and dry cereal? You people are just weird.

BONUS! You all think foot biting is the most common way for my cat to communicate. You're wrong. Its like 3rd at most...

Going out for more medicines in a bit. 'Cause of the still being sick thing. So if I don't post for a couple days its probably 'cause I've choked to death on my own snot while in a coma. So one of you make sure to get a hold of my mom if that happens so my cat isn't forced to survive by eating my bloating corpse...

I wonder if Airman Higgs was introduced so that the Foglios could make him a Bosun, just as a really long set-up for a pun? Also how many people I'm infecting by passing out check-out envelopes I've licked...
