Time to get a Costco membership
Nov. 27th, 2012 08:08 pmBut not everyone is happy with Costco's business strategy. Some Wall Street analysts assert that Mr. Sinegal is overly generous not only to Costco's customers but to its workers as well.
Costco's average pay, for example, is $17 an hour, 42 percent higher than its fiercest rival, Sam's Club. And Costco's health plan makes those at many other retailers look Scroogish. One analyst, Bill Dreher of Deutsche Bank, complained last year that at Costco "it's better to be an employee or a customer than a shareholder."

Feb. 28th, 2011 10:59 amSo here is the thing. Firefly is being reaired on Canada's equivalent to SyFy or something. And in an interview Nate Fillon said if he won the lottery he'd love to buy the rights himself and start the show again. And so now the diehard Firefly fans are trying to make that happen. Raise something like 300 million so that Fillon can buy the right to it. People are raising funds in various ways...
And that just hurts. I loved Firefly and Serenity. I one piles of tie-in licensed materials. But you know what? ITS A FUCKING TELEVISION SHOW. 300 million that will make a bunch of rich people get richer? Thats not fucking right. If there were a mass petition of letter campaign or whatever to try and rekindle interest in restarting the show that could be one thing. But this is just sad fan self-indulgence. And its even worse if it actually succeeds. The world is full of needy causes to actually help make things less shitty. And people want to raise this kind of money to bring back a TV show...
