Seriously?
Feb. 28th, 2011 10:59 amSo here is the thing. Firefly is being reaired on Canada's equivalent to SyFy or something. And in an interview Nate Fillon said if he won the lottery he'd love to buy the rights himself and start the show again. And so now the diehard Firefly fans are trying to make that happen. Raise something like 300 million so that Fillon can buy the right to it. People are raising funds in various ways...
And that just hurts. I loved Firefly and Serenity. I one piles of tie-in licensed materials. But you know what? ITS A FUCKING TELEVISION SHOW. 300 million that will make a bunch of rich people get richer? Thats not fucking right. If there were a mass petition of letter campaign or whatever to try and rekindle interest in restarting the show that could be one thing. But this is just sad fan self-indulgence. And its even worse if it actually succeeds. The world is full of needy causes to actually help make things less shitty. And people want to raise this kind of money to bring back a TV show...

I ended up catching part of an episode of Family Guy at work and the stupid and unfunnyness of it made me want to burn down the world. So I started to think of ways to go about that. Then I remembered the world has vidoes of turtles having sex with shoes and I wouldn't want to destroy that. So instead of burning down the world I think I'll just go and get a breakfast burrito later...
