World War I. The Great War. Fought in the trenches by the allied forces of Brittania and Gallia, alongside recruits from the American countries like Columbia and Acadia-Canada. Troops of humans and trolls and dwarves and brownies who've died their caps red. Fighting Prussian forces made of the same. With both sides pushing sorcery into deadlier and deadlier ways to find new terror weapons. Vampire squads. Werewolf troops. Salamander bombs...
Fletcher Arrowsmith is a young farm kid who sees a group of Oversees Air Corpsmen recruiting and asking for donations across the countries of North America. And he dreams of flying and opposing the evil forces of the, possibly mythical, Blood Emperor of the Prussians. And so he leaves home and joins up. Gets his dragonet familiar. And gets to fly. Of course he quickly learns that war has little glory and heroism isn't what he thought it would be...
