3:10 to Yuma (new version)
Mar. 6th, 2008 10:01 amWell first off, Crowe and Bale are both great. No surprise there. And the general story is the same with many of the same scenes. Though its more violent. Like the original stage coach robbery adds a gatling gun, a sniper and a guy exploding when his satchel of dynamite is shot. And Wade's second in command is one of those crazy killer types. And the ending is..grimmer...
Also they add more people helping Evans get Wade to the train. Mostly so they can get killed off along the way. And two lengthy sequences get added that feel like padding. One with taking a pass thru "renegade" Apache territory. The other with railroad workers...
Still a very good Western. But I think I like the original more. Less..flashy I guess. Plus I think the lynching scene towards the end has more impact than the shooting that replaces it...
