New Comics Day

A very Image heavy week for me, with nothing from the Big Two. Starting with the second half of Invincible Presents: Atom Eve. And look, Eve gets a horrible My Family Is Dead origin. Yay! More teen heroes with dead family angst. My Superfic teen hero team are ALL going to have happy, LIVING families. Even the clone twins. Just to be fucking different. But I do like Eve's reactions when having to fight her "failed" clone siblings...

Then we've got Scud the Disposable Assassin. Scud vs. Voodoo Ben! And Jeff! And Drywall when Ben tells him about the whole End the World to Save the Girlfriend thing. Oh and a giant army of other Scuds! But Scud's a cowboy, and cowboy's don't quit!

Next up is Dynamo 5. With the super-siblings going against Maggie's orders to go and rescue Slingshot's dad. And then Maggie gets to deal with Visionary's mom. AND THEN her underwater base gets invaded by a new villain who has recruited all the baddies the 5 have been beating up on. Maggie's day kind of sucks. Even more than when she turned into a dinosaur...

And we finish up Image with a new Cassanova. Where Zephyr Quinn invades her dad's moon-base and is a big ungrateful jerk. I mean I stopped liking her when she killed those Russian kids way back when. But her assassination spree has been really over the top. I look forward to Time Travel Girl kicking her ass...

Then we go to Comic Book Comics by Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey. A pictorial history of comics as a follow up to their brilliant Action Philosophers. This first issue covers from The Yellow Kid to the early pre-WW2 era...

And lastly we have Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Where invading vampire shape-shifters steal the Scythe. Plus post-sex nervous banter between Buffy and Satsu. To steal from Chris Sims, Greatest comic or GREATEST comic?

It would be rly nice if more teenagers could be heroes even if they have great lives (like Jaime!) and not need dead family members in their history (like Robin and Supergirl and Ravager and Kid Devil and me) XD
