The man is very excited to die for his country and his God, so he shouldn’t be messed with. When you’re put on the phone to prove you’re okay, your dad will give you the secret signal he taught you a long time ago, the signal that says it’s time for you to fuck shit up because the fate of many people is in your hands.

The Basketball Diaries

The true story of writer Jim Carroll's teen descent into heroin addiction. The first half of the movie feels like most Coming of Age in the Big City movies, while the second half feels like most Drug Addict movies. Addict hits bottom, people try to save them, addict finds they can actually dig DEEPER to find a NEW bottom, then either recovery and redemption or death. So really the appeal of the movie is going to be the acting. And thats pretty good. DeCaprio, Ernie Hudson, Mark Wahlberg. The late Bruno Kirby as Carrol's high school coach. Their are other Addict movies I'd recomend over this one, but if you want to see something from the genre, this is a perfectly good one. Me, I prefer The Salton Sea because it has a crazy dealer with no nose in it and the worst robbery in the history of robberies...

I also think most kids in grade school should have to watch several weeks of Addict movies, because if one thing will kill the allure of Drug Culture, its watching what a bunch of whining pussies addicts will turn into when they need a fix...
