Crytal-hugging neo-pagans + the U.S.Army + the Iraq War = COMEDY. Well that and some excellent work by George Clooney, Ewan McGregor (and watching him try to NOT have a Scottish accent is always amusing), Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges...

First Snow

Guy Pearce is a flooring salesman who breaks down in some little podunk town. While waiting for his car to be fixed he decides to make use of a roadside fortune teller (JK Simmons) who first predicts a financial windfall and then backs off and returns his payment. Later when Pearce's character returns and pushes him, Simmons says how he saw Pearce's death around the first snow. Not a normal thing for New Mexico...

So Pearce basically gets wiggier and wiggier as he comes to believe he's doomed. Either from a former co-worker he got fired. Or maybe his former best friend he sold out when both got busted for money laundering...

Any broody Guy Pearce is always awesomely broody. And lots of recognizable and good c-listers like Simmons. Always a plus. But the ending is just total ass. I'd rewatch it to try and nail down what the hell happened but at this point I don't care. Plus, no way this thing needed to be two hours. Easily a half hour that could have been trimmed...

I meant to post this yesterday. But you know, got distracted by shiny objects...

1) The majority were evenly divided between the Original D&D Magic-user and Cleric as best class. Which is odd, since the Cleric doesn't even get any spells until 2nd level in that edition...

2) The preferred method of psychic attack was mind bullets. Happily I've got a tinfoil hat. Take that Psy-Snipers!

3) The preferred method of drunk beat-downs is to go with AN ULTIMATE COMBO!

4) Most believe Death to be a cute Goth girl. At least thats the hope...

5) Favored Cheese: Sharp Cheddar

6) Best fake band name gave a four way tie between Lightning in a Bottle, The Rats in the Walls, Hillbilly University & Overclocked...

7) And another tie, this time for theoretical the Brave & the Bold pairing with Blue Beetle 3/Star Girl matching in votes with Wonder Woman/Guy Gardner...

8) Nearly everyone agrees, being the family shrink of the Stewards of Gondor & their family would suck the most...

9) Favorite 90s Fighting Game? MORTAL KOMBAT! *starts techno music*

10) Just edging out the others to get the lead as best villain partner? M.O.D.O.K! Probably because he's so cute...
