The Move is DONE. Apartment is cleaned. Last of the money is paid. Keys are turned over. Won't know for awhile if we get any of our damage deposit back, but whatever. No more driving to Mesa. No more of that stupid fucking intersection at Gilbert and University that is under construction until November. Of course until I find a new roommate money will likely be a little tighter. But that is part of why I cut cable tv. Sixty-five bucks a month I'll save there. And with just me my food and electric bills should be lower...
So in the process of moving (and I still need more stupid boxes) and the roommate is culling out his comics for the first time in years. I pull a bunch for myself, lots of Hellboy/B.P.R.D, some Scalped and so on. And one of the things I find is a .25 cent 20th Anniversary book for Dark Horse. Various artists doing other people's characters. Plus this sweet Matt Wagner cover:

Family Debt
Mar. 14th, 2009 06:28 pmWell it looks like the step-father has found me a replacement car. A 90-something Honda Accord with 100K on it for only 2300. So right now I just owe my family 3 grand. So thats..well not good. But better than being without transportation and stuck in Mesa for an extra three months. Still could use a new roommate, though I can afford (just barely) to live on my own...
State of Something
Mar. 11th, 2009 01:43 pm1. Have been awake since 9:30 last night. Very tired
2. Had doctor's appointment. They took some of my precious fluids and then gave me drugs
3. Stuff on moving out of apartment in May looks to be moving forward
4. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down
5. Comics bought but unread due to inability to focus
6. Have to stay up a bit longer because of apartment things
7. Want pudding
8. an Arby's beef 'wich. Was not that good
9. Look!
10. Right. Awake for many hours. Some to go. Not wearing pants

Well son of a bitch
Mar. 2nd, 2009 01:15 pmWent to the apartment complex office to turn in the rent (because they're being more strict about the turn it all in together thing). And started to officially give notice of our plan to move out at the end of April. Except, it turns out, our complex has a $1017 termination fine. PLUS we'd have to pay back the $407 rent rebate incentive from when we renewed. Our lease ends August 31st. Moving out 4 months early would cost $1424. My family is willing to rent the new place to me and the room-mate at $500 a month, saving us $370 a month. Or $1480. So for the first four month's we'd have a net gain of fifty-six dollars. Provided we can get the over SEVEN HUNDRED each to pay the fines...
Yeah gonna have to see what can be done on that...

Procrasternaterizing
Mar. 2nd, 2009 11:49 amI should really do my Feb. book report list. Or maybe figure which system to use tomorrow so I can reread the book ahead of time. Or wake up the room-mate so we can go down to the office to let them know we'll be moving out early at the end of April...
Yep.
Should get right on any of that. But hell, I haven't even put on pants yet...

Today I start getting my stuff ready for moving out of my moms and into my new apartment. Its been...seven, eight years since the situation up on Bell fell apart and I ended up back living with my family. Years where I'd save up to move, find someone interested in getting a place and having everything collapse. Lost jobs, having to replace a broken down car, SOMETHING. Despite the giant pain it is to move my piles of books and the fact that my disposable income is SEVERELY whittled down I need this. Only having to pay a token amount in rent isn't worth the expense of how my family treats me. They repeat things to me constantly. Like I'm a child. And it drives me up a FUCKING WALL. I've been allowing myself to coast along because I enjoyed having the extra money to spend on myself. To be able to slowly but surely dig out much of the lingering debt from the aborted attempt at college and the ruinous move to Colorado. Maybe, just maybe, if I'm not living with them my family will REMEMBER to treat me as an adult. And possibly with just the smallest amount of respect that I CAN survive on my own...
Come back money! All my pretty money...
Anyways I've been spending a lot this week. Deposits on the apartment, deposits for electricity, replacing the battery which died WHILE getting the car emissions' tested (which it JUST failed, being about .15 over on NOX). Oh and of course paying for apartment supplies and various pre-ordered books and other entertainment expenses...
Oh well, most of that is why I was saving towards this summer anyway...

Almost done
Oct. 10th, 2004 02:22 pmWell, the general moving from one place to another is done (except for the computer here, which we can't decide where it should go). Just the enjoyable task of UNPACKING all those fricking boxes now...
Ugh.
Still, got 8 hours of sleep last night, followed by some unpacking then another 3 hours of sleep. Best I've felt since the food poisoning.
Hopefully I'll have internet access at work. If not, see you all next weekend.

An Experiment
Sep. 17th, 2004 04:30 pmAfter some basic testing involving a a light box holding a small assortment of paperbacks and a staircase I have reached a simple conclusion.
I'm too damn fat to move the really, heavy boxes of books I have up to my new room at the new house. So in order to avoid cardiac arrest I'll let the movers do it.

Went and saw the new house. Nice place, lots and lots of storage. But the previous owners were Mormon so that makes sense.
But all the bedrooms are on the second floor. And nearly all my stuff is going to be heavy boxes of books. Plus all the furniture thats in the current bedrooms. And the computer.
I'm wondering how much hiring big, strapping movers would cost.
