Update on Non-Updates
Jul. 13th, 2009 04:48 pm1. I signed up for food stamps this weekend. Even more than having to take unemployment six years ago, this makes me feel like a failure. Also depressed...
2. I have given up on trying to get in touch with my local friends. When having money for one of them doesn't get them to return calls or e-mails it definitely makes one feel unwanted. Which means I'm becoming a hermit outside of weekly visits to the family and comics shop...
3. I haven't forgotten the interest inspiration writing thing. I've got one done and am working on the other four but I've had to scrap my first couple concepts because they were really, really bad...
4. I'm sleeping a lot lately. Some of this is just how exhausted I feel after spending even a few hours outside shopping or dropping off resumes. Some of its probably depression...
5. I need a gaming group. A real life one. I miss that level of social interaction...

Got my copy of Wind Tunnel Dreams by
shadesong today. Very pretty cover. The glasses on the woman are a nice little touch...
I'm reading a lot this month. Probably from having all this free time with not working most of the week. And not having such a screwed up sleep schedule. I'm generally managing six to eight hours straight instead of the four hours out, then awake for awhile, then sometimes managing another four hours before work...
Plus I've got nothing social going on. No one returns calls, even when the phone was working. Which its not right now. But I call the few people I know and no one ever calls back. Which makes me sad. I'm living near my friends again, I've got my weekends free until I find more work and STILL I'm at home. I'm just not a drop-in on people kind of person...
Anyways. Enough whining. New book!

Motivating Lists
Jun. 4th, 2009 06:15 amThings to do today:
1. Return call from Scottsdale hotel. Hope that call was how they realized letting me go was foolish and will result in catastophe. And not that they just want me to return work uniform clothing...
2. Make doctor's appointment so perscriptions can be renewed...
3. Update resume...
4. Check job listings for places to apply Friday...
5. Feel depressed. Hide it behind mask of false optimism...
6. Woo! Chance for better job! Everything will be good. Woo!

From a note left for me at the Phoenix hotel:
So plusses. No longer have to drive to Scottsdale. Have weekends free. Happened after I moved out of the Mesa apartment.
Negatives. 16 hours a week. Have to go job hunting again. Have to cancel shit on pre-order that I wanted. HAVE to get roommate now.
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
Due to severe cuts in budget and drastic loss in revenue, I regret to say that we will no longer need you to work the audit at the Holiday Inn Express.

Haven't made a post on this front in awhile. Mostly because nothing really new is happening. And I don't want this to be just another bitchfest journal...
I'll still apply at the occasional hotel and I posted my resume on jobing.com. Which isn't really netting anything. At least nothing that would be an actual step forward. Only positive note is that I finally managed to make the people at work realize that I'm over 25 with a clean driving record. So maybe they should consider ME as a back-up driver, rather than hiring more half-wits...
I'm actually considering just grabbing a convience store job or something similar. Except even working at minimum for 40 hours puts me over the max for my state sponsored health plan. Which means paying for all the diabetes stuff out of pocket. Which defeats the entire point of finding a different job to SAVE UP money...
And no luck with any of the government jobs I've applied for. Even when I'm qualafied for the position, so are many of the other people applying for the job...
*sigh*

Dear Mr. Jason Root,
We wish to thank you for your participation in the interviews for the position of Program Services Evaluator I with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), Family Assistance Administration.
We have made an offer of employment to another canidate, who has accepted the position.
Well thanks assholes, but since you said you'd be in touch with me within THIRTY days, not SIXTY, I'd already given up hope on this job.
*sigh*
Still they keep my test scores on record for a year, so I can maybe try and reaplly next week...

Dumb assitude
Sep. 8th, 2005 07:51 pmDear AmeriSuites:
When putting up a job notice about a night audit position, any ONE of the following would be usefull.
1. The hotel's adress
2. The hotel's phone number
3. The hotel's fax number
4. An email adress for a contact person.
Sincerly,
A highly experianced potential applicant who won't be bothering to try and track down your location

And a brief stop
Jun. 15th, 2005 02:58 pmFirst off, what the fuck happened to my style layout? This isn't what I had setup. Seriously, what the fuck?
Anyway, the test went well, only missed 3 out of 50 questions, so a 94. And the minimum is like 80. So I've got an interview next Wednesday at 1. Which means missing another monthly safety/GSR meeting. I'm never gonna get that 50 dollar giveaway bonus thing before I leave.
And after some quick webcomics reading, it'll be off to dogsit for my grandparents. Where I'll have to deal with annoyance of a dial-up connection. On the plus side, they have a tv within view of the computer with a sat. hookup...

Gov't job quest, probably part the first
Jun. 15th, 2005 11:16 amSo I'm off to take some kind of test thing. I guess like a civil servants exam maybe? Not sure. But the goal is a job as an interviewer/screener for AHCCS or however the acronym works. The health insurance for po' people I've got now...
If (and that should be When most likely) I get this (and it will take a while) it means a FULL TIME job at 11.30 an hour to start with all gov't lackey full bennies...

Job hunting
May. 16th, 2005 05:09 pmNo real job leads so far this week. Just some generic gov't listings and what not. I might have to go back to call center work. I HATE call centers.
I wish I knew why I never get any of the jobs I've gotten interviews with. Did I say something wrong? Not forceful enough? Is it my clothes? My weight? My refrences? What? I should have gotten ONE of the hotel jobs that I've applied for...

dooba dooba doob...
May. 14th, 2005 03:46 pmPuttering around doing not much of nuthin. Mostly waiting to hear back from my friend Kevin so we can finalize plans to go see Unleashed...
Been playing a lot of a cheap-ass (read free) dungeon crawl game called Angband. As I mentioned in the past, its hard. But I've now got a Kobold Ranger up to level 11. Pity I can't wear heavy armor without sacrificing his spell slinging abilities...
What else. Embassy Suites hasn't contacted me yet. Which means they probably went with somebody else. Oh well. I need to think of something else to start trying for. But what? I don't really have the technical skills to get me a job where openly hating people doesn't matter...
