A happy birthday to mirrorverse twins userinfocrimsonjoe and userinfoyendi. I wonder which has the goatee of evilness...

Went and saw this last night with the moms. I was pretty disappointed. The underlying premises for the various reveals just left me going "seriously"? Plus McGregor's motivation at about the half-way point just makes zero sense. His character is shown as a fairly shallow guy who agrees to take over ghosting a former British Prime Minister's auto-bio because the money is really good. At one point he tells another character something like "I don't care. I'm a ghost writer not an investigative journalist". And then like five fucking minutes later he goes and drives from Cape Cod to Boston to do some fucking investigative journalism. Good acting from McGregor and Pierce Bronson and some of the teritary charcters. Bad story-telling...

Dwayne McDuffie (who was behind much of the best of JL & JLU) writes the animated adaptation of the Grant Morrison Earth-2 story. I liked the cameos by the mirror Earth-2 "heroes" that served as lackeys to the Crime Syndicate. Though I'm probably one of like three people who likes "good" Joker being the Jokester instead of Red Hood or the Jester. And President Slade Wilson was an interesting touch. I'm not sure I agree with how Batman sort of sets up the death of two different people in it. It always feels like a misstep to me to have Batsy even indirectly responsible for someone's death...
