From an entertainment site where Mr. Brazleton also posts his comic:

I've had someone comment to me (through my web site) that Downey portraying an actor, portraying a black man actually takes work away from real-life black actors.

Thus, they made my point for me when identifying people who can't take a joke in-context and those who are chomping at the bit to be offended by anything.

Dude. Just dude. You are a middle class white boy from Iowa or someplace in the midwest. You DON'T even get to decide when something is racially offensive and when "it's a joke". Trust me. From one middle class white boy to another. You are digging yourself a hole here...

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Inspired by Plok's idea of "Marvel as written by various famous authors", Willow of Seeking Avalon has been doing Marvel Tangents. Where the names are the same but the concepts are different. So far she has The Gambit a group dedicated to fighting supernatural threats to mankind. At the cost of one of their members lives every mission. Which led to my idea for X-Man, DaVinci's secret robot, secret ally of the Gambit. Which then led to The Uncanny X-Men. A future team of robots built by The Exiles (a community of alien dissidents exiled to Earth to get them out of the way) to battle threats on Earth and abroad...

Also The Avengers (Black Panther, Silver Fox, White Tiger and The Wolverine), a female team of half human/half beasts empowered by the demi-goddess Circe to fight evil. Inspiring me with The Fury, a former sergeant in the Ukranian army, now the avatar of the Furies. She is the more violent and darker rival to the Avengers...

She's also got The Amazing Nightcrawler, three generations of the Wagner family who fight evil in New York using their family's gift/curse...

Which leads me to The Doctors' Strange. The staff of the Stephen Strange Memorial Hospital have unique problems. But thats expected when you're the worlds authority on treating metahuman issues. Chief-of-staff Dr. Matt Murdock has to balance the care of his sometimes dangerous patients with the emotional hot house that is his staff. Think Grey's Anatomy with super-heroes...

ETA: Willow adds (from an IM with Zombie Mallet) new takes on Ghost Rider as a cross of Deadman & Max Headroom. And her take on Deadpool. Which reminds a little of The Crow & a little of both The Spectre & Ragman...
