I'm watching the documentary on the WWF/WCW Monday night ratings wars. Man, do Vince and his crew try to play the aggrieved wronged party a lot. Its kind of silly really...

WWE is still trying to pimp the Marine. Dudes. Its over. Move on. Cena ain't no Rock. And this piece of shit ain't the Rundown. Hell, its not even Suburban Commando...

Oh look, an attempt to shill the See No Evil dvd. How sad...

Edit: I will say that this Kennedy/Undertaker feud looks like it will work in every way that the Orton/Undertaker feud failed. Mostly because Ken Kennedy doesn't suck...

I just wasted almost a WHOLE minute watching the Miz/some girl wrestling an inter-gender match against Vito/some other girl. And now the Boogeyman. I feel like shooting some-one...

Gregory Helms: I'm the bestest champ ever! I can kick anyone's ass!

Matt Hardy: Whatevah...

Teddy Long: Playah babble playah anyone?

GH: ANYONE!

TL: Gregory you'll face the Undertaker!

GH: NOOO!

MH: Hah hah.

Exactly what does this fucking show? That the Undertaker can squash the Cruiserweight champ? How about you have "the longest running Cruiserweight" champ face someone in HIS ACTUAL division. Hell, feed him Scottie 2 Hottie or some other cruiser jobber and then have him face Chavo or Rey next week. DO. SOMETHING. WITH. THE. BELT.

Hunh. Cryme Tyme didn't suck. I'm shocked...

Melina and Nitro suck at doing promos still. Very much not shocked...

The Marine lasting more than a single week in the theaters? I'll be beyond shocked...

Ok, this one is for [profile] twillitts and his interest "wrestling". [personal profile] cygnia started up an e-fed a while back, and this is loosely based on some of the character concepts I thought about pitching her if I ever got the energy and motivation to get involved in KEW...

Ok so 1: Edge's hometown.

2: Edge brags how he's never lost a TLC match and Cena's never been in one.

3: Its still a spinner belt.

4: Cena has a crappy movie coming out.

I will bet elventybazamillion dollars that Cena wins the strap at the Unforgiven ppv. Any takers?

Since I've got a ridiculous amount of userpic slots available, I decided to add some more.

This one is for wrestling posts, since the Beast one just doesn't work for me...

Orton is such a total choad. Dallas sure loves them some Hulkamania though...

So RVD and Sabu got busted this weekend on a minor possession charge. They have a court date on Thursday. Given the amounts disclosed its unlikely they'll get more than community service or a similar slap on the wrist. But with the WWE's "wellness program" now in effect they could be facing a much bigger career punishment. Suspension or even contract termination...

And given that WWE apparantly changed the RAW finale from a 3-team "Dream Partner" tag event to a Triple Threat Title match between Edge, Cena and RVD things don't look good. And if RVD and/or Sabu are let go or even just suspended, things look worse for the reborn ECW. Between Vince constantly eroding Heyman's creative control over the product, Angle in serious need of some down time and now the potential loss of two of their main eventers? This leaves the whole show on Big Show, Dreamer and Sandman, along with a few rookies and the numerous creaky vets...

And over on SD, WWE has apparantly decided to send Gunner Scott and Paul Burchill back down to OVW. It seems that their "creative" writing team can't think of anything to do with either of them...

Well 1/2 hour in and two thoughts.

1. Khali still sucks and pushing him is one of WWE's dumbest moves in quite some time. I'm not a big Tatanka fan, but when you put MONTHS into building the guy up, using him in yet another lame Khali squash kills his push fucking dead...

2. Finley's Leprechaun is actually fairly amusing. It made me laugh anyway...

Ok, three things.

3. JBL makes for an ok heel announcer. It allows him to play to his strength (mic work) and avoid his main weakness (average ring skills)...

Edit: And new 4th thing. GET MARK HENRY OFF MY TV. The only thing worse than having to watch this pile of crap "wrestle" is listening to him try and do mic work. He came in to WWF 10 years ago as a talentless oaf and a decade later nothing has changed...

2nd Edit: Good match for King Booker and Lashley, and some good ring work from the returned Mr. Kennedy...

Henry looks like crap as usual, but the ending with its nod to Eddie made me cheer...

Ok, so it looks like the Sandman's weekly bit will be to beat the hell out of some guy with a silly gimmick. Wonder if its the same guy?

Edit: Test? Seriously?
lurkerwithout: (iKillyou)
A fairly weak start with the Edge/Cena/RVD angle. Then the zombie bit. Is that Sandman's new thing? Beating the hell out of lame gimmicks? Then a decent Angle squash on Justin Incredible. Then the stripper and I went and did some paperwork. And finishing with a pretty good battle royale, that mostly served to further show off the new ECW Big Show...

Ok, especially considering it was more a Smackdown crowd than an ECW one...

Overall I think this was a ppv worth my 30 bucks. Of course I only ever watch two (One Night Stand and Wrestlemania) so I don't have a lot to compare it to. But aside from the odd finish to the Mysterio/Sabu match I thought all the matches and shoots went well. Even the JBL "surprise" appearance, which just helped keep the Hammerstein crowd fired up...

But the best moments for me? Big Show, doing in 5 minutes, what Khali hasn't managed in a month or Mark Henry in 10 years. How to be the Dominating Monster. The crowd reactions to Angle (massive support) and Cena (utter loathing). And the "joke" match managed to warm up the crowd AND put over everyone involved. All with a minimum amount of time and effort...

Add in the premieres of Deadwood and Entourage and this was a kick-ass night of tv...
lurkerwithout: (iKillyou)
Ok checking the WWE site, there are only 5 matches total listed. And unless Rey leaves Smackdown! for ECW, none ONLY involve ECW talent...

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam
World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Sabu
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton
Mick Foley & Edge vs. Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer
Tazz vs. Jerry Lawler

But that still seems light. Unless several of those matches last 20 or 30 minutes. I'm guessing there might be some unannounced matches or a lot of video segments...
lurkerwithout: (iKillyou)
Big Show Shirt-tear Reveal!

Plus what was probably one of Cena's best shoots. He stayed mostly on topic, avoided relying on the Wiggerspeak and managed to push himself and ECW relaunch. Orton on the other hand meandered all over the place...

Though the announcer hate between Lawler/JR and Tazz/Styles see-sawed between amusing and annoying. Up to the point of the brawl. That was nice...

So last nights RAW was...adequete. A decent match between RVD and Shelton Benjamin with a screw job on RVD, followed by him laying out a post-bell frog splash. And then later using his Money-in-the-bank contract to get a match with Cena at the ECW One-Night-Stand...

Also a match for that being set between Edge/Mick Foley and Terry Funk/Tommy Dreamer. So no surprises with either of those...

Another match between Torrie Wilson and Mickie. Which was mostly to set up the ambush/announcement that Beth Phoenix had been signed to RAW...

And also a high point was them basically putting the lame Kane "May 19th" movie tie-in plot to bed. Though they seemed to use it to set up for a "spooky haunted mask" thing. I guess to get Kane back in the mask...

The only real low-point (beyond there being way too many commercial breaks and video flashbacks) was the Viscera "proposal" that was interupted by Umanga. Probably the only time I'll ever be happy to see him come out for his lame push...

I'd say the whole show rates a C- overall. Nothing great, but better than the crap they're showing on Smackdown of late...
