So the ex-roommate managed to badger me into leaving the house and going to the Friday Board Game night. Played a game of Lost Civilizations, Princes of Florence and some Ra to finish up the night. Won the first, lost the others. But fun was had. Of course now I'm expected to leave the house MORE often. Socialize. Interact with others. Not slowly turn into a crazy shut-in...

Decided to take advantage of not working tonight by going down to Gamer's Inn for some board games. As always, while I want to support the store that gives me space to game my selections were limited. Ended up grabbing some more little plastic undead women for Zombies! and some pens for my battle-map. Played some Puerto Rico (which was more fun than I expected) and St. Petersburg, some 1 on 1 Mag-blast and Lost Cities, a 7-person game of Bohnanza (which I was totally crushed at) and a 4-person Apples to Apples (at which I was victorious). It was nice not having to leave early to go to work...

Spent just over three hours playing Arkham Horror this week, with the Egypt expansion cards. We didn't actually finish, but we were in such a strong position there really wasn't anyway for the Horror to win. I don't think anyone is going to want play AH again for a couple months. Also played out some Bohnanza (where it was again shown that not going for the 3rd Field is non-starter of strategy) and then finished up with a quick game of Liar's Dice, made all the more interesting because of everyone having seen PoTCII...

I still wish we could have got in a game of Ra or M...

Spent most of the night playing Power Grid. A nice game, though I learned that when using the USA map, picking a California starting point makes things MUCH more difficult. After that I played some Liar's Dice, which I absolutely suck at. I just can't figure out the odds on things to make safe bids...

Sadly I didn't manage to win at anything last night. I had a terrible run at Formula De, a disastrous final scoring at M and was drawing dead during Munchkin. I did better at Liar's Dice, up until one truly stupid move put me out from the lead...

My side did win at Betrayal at the House on the Hill, managing to destroy the Ourobous the Two-Headed Snake, but my guy had little to do with it, beyond pre-Haunt exploration...

Still I had fun playing and hanging out with other people, which for me is the whole point...

Well the Thursday HM game was pretty slow. Various people were late due to real life stuff and so we started about 2 hours late. And then I never really had a good chance to attack foolishly or open random chests or what not to kill off my crappy fighter. Maybe in 2 weeks when Eric runs again...

Friday Board Game started a little late as well. But it was ok, as me and one of the others played the Foglio card game The Works, based off Girl Genius until we could get a big game going. Then we got a 6 person game of Arkham Horror going. Pretty cool game. A bit like Descent or Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Sadly I had to leave for work just as a game of Apples to Apples was starting up...

Tomorrow afternoon looks to be the start of [personal profile] mossfoot's online WE Star Wars game. Which I will hopefully be able to wake up in time for...

Well we only had about 1/2 the normal crowd this week. And the half-dozen of us there mostly ended up playing the stuff I brought this week. The copy of Betrayal at the House on the Hill I bought at the store and a some Show Me the Brain and Lord of the Fries. So a very zombie filled night ('cause the Haunt was the Zombie Family one). Also some Ninja Burger...

So Friday nights at Game Den is Board Game Night. A dozen or so people playing various board and card games. So while Miles spent the whole night playing in the World of Warcraft board game, Noah and I played Acquire and Bang! Acquire is a sort of stock buying and tile placing game. Pretty easy to learn. Though the one guy kept ganking me every time I thought I'd have primary stockholder...

Bang! is an Italian card game that simulates a western. You basically have 4 types of players. The Sheriff (who wins if he takes out all the bad guys), The Deputies (who win if the Sheriff wins), the Outlaws (who win if the Sheriff dies) and the Renegade (who wins if he kills everyone, but only if the Sheriff is taken down last). I found it to be very fun so I picked up a copy...

First off, managed to spend a couple hours over at Dan/Jane's playing a little HackMaster. Mostly I stopped by to see how Jane is recovering from surgery...

Later on, I did board games with Brendan and Spoony and Miles. Broke out some Scrabble, as well as Catan, Rubis (a tough stacking puzzle game)and a couple games of Apples to Apples...

Well we ran SpyCraft tonight at Brendan's new apartment. Well eventually anyway. First we decided to do the "short" game of the Civilization board game. Close to 3 hours just for the ancient era. Noah ended up winning, but it me and Brendan were both right on his heels still...

But we still managed to get in a couple hours of espionage action. Brendan brought in his new character, a soldier codenamed Hound. And then it was off to Russia to investigate several missing news teams and suspicious activity at the Russian space launch facility. While looking for a BBC news team, we got into a brief battle with a couple "ninja"/commando types. Thanks to a lucky crit shot by yours truly and some expert John Woo style shooting by Brendan they went down pretty easy. And so we basically left off after that, with our team getting ready to try and infilitrate the facility...

Picked up an '86 2nd edition printing of AvalonHill's Diplomacy game. Only 20 bucks. Now to find out if this game can truly end friendships and marriages and create everlasting blood feuds...

Brendan hadn't rolled up a new character for SpyCraft so we pushed that back 'till next week. Instead we played board games. Introduced Brendan to Settlers of Catan and then after a couple games we tried Seafarers of Catan. Which Miles DESTROYED us all at. Won with a six point lead on all of us...

Then we did Betrayal at House on the Hill again. I ended up as the Haunt and was a madman sending a pack of zombies after the others. I got Noah and Brendan, but Miles managed to kill the madman and trap the remainder of the zombies...

This time around we played some more Spycraft. I didn't have much to do beyond the planning stuff, as I am VERY much avoiding gunfights and what not from now on. So we start to clean up (or cover up depending on how you look at it) the evidence from Russian Tea Room Battle, when we find out that the bad guys have taken over a subway train, taken close to 200 people hostage and are threatening to release nerve gas into the subway tunnels if their demands aren't met. Which are for the release of various prisoners from all over the map and the bad guy spectrum. The demand seems like bullshit but the threat is real...

So we come up with a plan. We know what section of track the train is looping around, so Miles and Brendan decide that their agents will drop down onto it, Tom Cruise in the harness style. Then they can use those snakey camera things to better scope the situation. They load up with some body armor and guns and stuff and hit the train. Where everything for Brendan goes wrong. He botches the check for the landing and so he's hanging from the side of the train and his SMG goes flying. Then he botches the roll to climb back up the train and goes flying off. Then he BOTCHES FOR A THIRD TIME on his tumble check to reduce the damage, DOUBLING it instead. His fixer/wheelman becomes a bloody smear on the tracks, until the train loops around again to run over his corpse...

After that things went better with Miles managing to sneak aboard and fuse the nerve gas cannisters shut. He plants an explosive near the leader after we figure out the exact stopping point of the train if we cut its power. So NYPD sets up some snipers to be ready when it rolls to a stop. Miles then takes out one terrorist, rappeling down the side of the train and blasting him commando style. Before the second guy can figure out whats going on Miles hits him with a flash bang, leaving him blind, stunned and quickly dead. And that leaves just the leader. Who's heavily armored in a modified space suit (since hes a crazy ex-cosmonaut) and packing a grenade launcher. Miles dodges and keeps enough cover to survive until the crazed Russian runs out of ammo. He even tags him in the face with his pistol after the dude takes a hostage to use as a human shield...

And then the whack-job uses a freaking JET PACK to escape. The snipers try to take him down, but roll crap for damage. So he evades the NYPD choppers and gets away. Still we saved the hostages and prevented a nerve gas attack on the city...

Then we decided to break out a new board game Noah had bough, Betrayal at House on the Hill. Buy this game. Go and buy it now. This game was freaking AWESOME! The first game I ended up as an evil 9 year old girl with a .38 pistol! Then Brendan was a spooky drowned boy trying to kill us all. And in the last game Noah was a servant of Death himself, who we had to play chess against. Totally freaking awesome. Go get it...

Finally won at Zombies!

Bwa ha ha ha!

Everyone concentrated on screw jobbing Miles and so I managed to Army of Darkness my way up to 19 kills before anyone noticed!

Miles tried to stop me with a Jammed card, but I had full meat points for rerolls.

Spent the afternoon hanging out at Imperial Outpost and playing games. Ninja Burger and Formula De mostly...

Also discussed regular RPG stuff. Looks like I'll be running a modern horror game. Probably using GURPS. Though non-d20 Call of Chtulu is still out there. But probably GURPS. This will be as an alternate to my Sunday HackMaster game...
