New Comics Day

Life is all about the simple pleasures. Like sitting down to a big ass bowl of chicken lo mein with a side of crab puffs and 3 of the best written mainstream comics out there. Keep that written comment in mind, its important for later.
First up is Fables. Before we get to the story, lets take a moment to mention James Jean's cover art. Its FANTASTIC. A marvel of simplicity and grace. Now on to the comic. This issue is all about Snow & Bigby's kids. And to some extent their extended family. Like, for example, it looks like Bigby's dad, the North Wind has moved onto the Farm to spend time with the grand-kids. Though I still wonder HOW he got to the "real" world from the Homelands.
Next up is 100 Bullets which concludes the Wylie story arc. And it does it in a way that pays off everything. This was dark and brutal and hard-core. Just luverly, simply luverly.
Lastly is the new Green Arrow. This issue Mia/Speedy joins the new Teen Titans. And the dialogue and the interactions going on here make me forgive them for starting with Highrise, a knock off of Marvel's Stiltman. Yeah, Stiltman. But the story makes up for it. Unfortunately Phil Hester is no longer drawing the book. Its someone named Tom Fowler. And he's crap. Total and utter CRAP! I mean you have this gorgeous cover with Ollie and Mia and the Titans and then you open the book and its SHIT!
*sigh*
Oh well. But since it was a pretty light week, I also grabbed another Usagi Yojimbo collection. Have only flipped thru it so far, but its got a crossover with TMNT, which sounds nice. Oh and grabbed the 1st Sin City trade. Because for some reason I didn't own it. I've got To Hell & Back, but I didn't have Sin City. :shrugs:
