Why of all the board and card games buy people this one? Because they'll play it. Its simple and fun and you can actually convince a whole family to try this out. I love games like Ra and Betrayal at the House on the Hill but I wouldn't try and get my mom to play. I broke out this one at the last big holiday gathering and ended up with 8 people playing, ages 28 to 60. That says good party game and thus great gift...

My mom constantly and consistantly reminds myself, my husband, my step brothers and my sister that she isn't a big fan of board games, and doesn't really like card game either.

We dragged her kicking and screaming into playing apples to apples. Two turns after starting she loved it. Now she is looking to buy it for my little cousins.
