lurkerwithoutNot much happened this week. In fact the session I thought would run short, actually ran out of time. The group was sent out to locate the Moff's drug lab, steal any research and samples and then destroy the lab. So first they had to return to Ramses IV and go to a different city to locate a lawyer with information on the location of the lab. Who was dead. But they found the remains of his legal droid which had a coded chip with the info on it. Then they got to lose some police pursuit...
Actually before any of that happened they did some bargaining for a shield generator and got in a brawl with some Gamorean dockhands. THEN they left for Ramses IV. Having some in-party fighting/practical joking that destroyed one of their swoop bikes...
But after escaping the local law the group heads to the forest world where the lab is located. Jek (Noah) and The Wookie (Miles) headed out overland to locate the lab. Along the way they got ambushed by some rock, throwing space-monkeys. One of which actually managed to injure The Wookie. After they reached the lab and saw the above ground security they sent for Basso (Brendan) so he could try and hack the security cameras. But he managed to crash the group's OTHER swoop bike into a tree and walked back to the ship. At that point we decided to wrap for the day so they could re-plan...
One problem most of them seem to be having is the frequency of auto-failures in the West End d6 system. For every set of die rolls, one die is the wild die. So on a 4d skill roll you'd roll 3d6 + 1d6 as the wild die. The wild die explodes on a 6 or fumbles the attempt on a 1. Meaning a 1 in 6 chance of failure on any roll, not even counting the difficulty of the task. I'm thinking I might change something about the way the wild die works to reduce the number of automatic failures. Maybe make it a d12...
Anyway, next week we should be restarting the Thieves' World campaign. If that happens I'll talk to Noah, see if he wants to switch off weeks or just break from Star Wars for a while...
