And today we continued our quest to rob the Purple Mage. With Kelly absent most of the game, we had to go without his Spooky Cleric. So my barbarian, Brendan's wizard, Matt's rogue and Miles' Godsworn headed to main beach landing for the island...
So upon reaching the landing site we spot a sunken Viking style longboat. Me and Ashe (the rogue) go to explore it. After a brief fight with a couple fish dudes we find a couple of potions and rejoin the group. After that we head inland on the island, taking a path thru a jungle. Ashe is scouting ahead and runs into what we the players recognize as a band of kobolds hauling a big stone tablet. Ashe decides to hide and watch the strange humanoids rather than warn the rest of the group. So we stumble into them and get surprised. We survive the initial volley of sling stones and charge ahead. The Godsworn and Tamerlane the Wizard take some damage, but once Ashe attacks from hiding we make short work of the dog-lizard-men things. After the fight we break for food and Kelly shows up, so his Spooky Cleric is there to help translate the slab (which is some kind of written saga of the Norse creation myth/cosmology)...
Then we head into the jungle again when we got shook up by an earthquake. We gathered ourselves up when the mini-quake stopped and set off again, whereupon we run afoul of a Dire Ape. Though other than pinning Vreise my barb with a thrown log, we make short work of the beast. The worst damage comes from Tamerlane catching me and Miles with part of a Burning Hands spell. As nightfall begins to set in, we decide to make camp atop a hill, near some empty barrow mounds. Big mistake. We get mobbed by close to a dozen zombies. We manage to take out several, but not before they overbear Spooky Cleric and tear him apart Romero style. And then Brendan botched a spell casting attempt, almost knocking himself out. It was at that point that we cut and ran...
I managed to use my wilderness skills to navigate us safely back to the beach, only to find that some other fish dudes had destroyed our boats. Leaving us with a mile swim across unsafe waters, with all of us hurt and exhausted. So we searched around and found a cliff face to use as a basically safe area to camp and prepared to try and rest up. And then another quake hit. Which is where we ended...
