Splenda okee fer me, never had a problem wid it unlike Nutrasweet. Killer headaches wid dat Nutrasweet stuff. But now Olean, man, dat'll rip up me insides like nobuddy's business, ya not wanna ever see an ogre eat Olean. *gets sick just thinking about it*
Probably a bad reaction to malitol. It warns on the package that it "may have a laxitive effect". Generally I find that you want to eat just one piece and see how you do with that. Maybe try two pieces the next day if you are ok. See how much tolerance you have for it. Otherwise, go with Splenda sweetened candy.
I buy sugarfree stuff for my Dad, but I only buy the stuff from a candy shoppe here in town. High dollar stuff, but no abdominal disagreements, so I guess it's worth the cost. (Especially since dad travels so much with work, can't imagine that kind of trouble while on an airplane, EEK...)
I'm not saying you should eat sugar, but if faced with the choice between artifical stuff and sugar, sugar is better. No one should eat too much sugar at all.. so with diabetes, you should just stay away from the sweet stuff altogether.
I do. Its just I walk by the damned cand aisle every time I go to get a script filled. And so I see the sugar free stuff by the pharmacy counter and I think...hmmm...CANDY...Candy that I CAN eat...
