Had to leave several books in the box this week. But the good thing about getting the Scottsdale job back on the weekends is getting a decent paycheck again...

This week has the mucho delayed finale for Ambush Bug: Year None. Which mostly concentrates on making jokes about how late it is. Even going so far as being labeled issue #7 of 6...

Jack Jr makes a deal with some monsters in Jack of Fables. And original Jack's weight gain is explained in an unexpected way...

Also got last week's missed Beasts of Burden. With the guardian dogs (and 1 cat) of Burden Hill investigating a pair of missing pups. Which leads to some accidental ghost vengeance...

Models, Inc continues its murder mystery and has a brief cameo by Mary-Jane Watson. Though really the whole mini-series is worth it for me just for the 6-page back-up by Tobin and wife Colleen Coover featuring models vs. zombies...

Avengers: The Initiative still suffers from some lackluster art, but it remains one of the few titles where I can put up with Marvel's stupid over-plot. Plus it looks like Trauma may have snuck in a secret weapon to snap Robbie out of being Penance...

Nova Prime Richard Ryder and the remaining Nova Corpsmen have to deal with an assualt by Mindless Ones and a reawakened and pissed of Ego the Living Planet...

Thanks to some "help" from Kang the Conquerer the scattered members of the Guardians of the Galaxy are reunited. Just in time to face off against the reborn Magus...

And lastly an oversized 25th issue of Dynamo5. The super-siblings, having just been stripped of their powers by their sister Synergy and Maddie's son Gideon, are re-powered in an unexpected manner. Which leads to some changes in costuming and code names...

I went with my mom to see this. Since, given the evidence of the THREE copies of the book she still owns, she is a bigger fan than me. I think I liked it more than her though...

The movie is about a lonely, but mostly good, kid prone to violent outbursts when he gets frustrated. Who ends up on an island full of sad, but mostly good, ogres prone to violent outbursts when they get frustrated. Especially Carol, who is voiced by James Gandolfini. The movie is a little surreal and full of metaphors for adolescence and constantly evokes the sense of wonder and fear and odd-ball logic that is childhood. It is very much a Spike Jonez picture, if one meant to be enjoyed by children as well as adults...
