New Comics Day 6/24
Jun. 24th, 2009 09:58 pmSadly several items from my pull list (including the new volume of Empowered) were either damaged or shorted. Which just confirms that Diamond hates me. Seriously. EVERY time I try to get Warren's latest from the store its delayed...
Which leaves me with a Marvel heavy week. Starting with Avengers: the Initiative. Its a well written issue, with more of Osborn's takeover of the "licensed hero" community. And if it weren't for the fact that the whole set up requires me to buy that someone who kills a reporter and then a bunch of cops could be placed in charge of a major and far-reaching government agency without anyone in the media or government raising an objection I'd enjoy more. Still Ramos does an ok job on the art and Gage creates something decent from the mess he's been handed...
Then SPACE! Where the Guardians of the Galaxy face-off against both the Inhumans/Kree and Imperial Guard/Shi'ar. Worth it alone for Cosmo's brief encounter with Lockjaw and Rocket Raccoon tearing the hell out ofBraniac 5Mentor. Plus Nova has Richard and the new Worldmind reorganizing the Corps and then visiting where Super-BoyGladiator's cousin massacred a group of captured Nova Corps...
The final issue of The Literals and "The Great Fables Crossover" comes to a close. With a last-minute save by Jack Frost, followed by a Final Solution courtesy of the Literal Deus Ex Machina...
And Proof reveals the origins of Spring-Heeled Jack and and seems to draw a close to the flash-back portion of the story...
