Man, I really wanted that Local hard-cover. Stupid no extra thirty dollars. Stupid need to eat. Oh well, I'll just have to settle for these regular comics...
Starting with another Skrulls vs. Power Pack. Which has nothing to do with Secret Invasion happily. Though it does have an unexpected betrayal. A shocking one!
Guardians of the Galaxy supposedly IS a SI tie-in. I don't really see it. But it does have Skrulls. And Drax wailing the crap out of alien super-heroes using pure bad-assedness. And more Starhawk. And an angry Cosmo. And Adam Warlock communing with the dead brain of a Celestial. Its so wonderful...
After that I do something I never thought I'd do. I bought a book starring the Sentry. Of course The Age of the Sentry! is two stories written by Jeff Parker and Paul Tobin. And they're both essentially crazy-ass DC silver age stories. Worth it for Cranio the Man with the Tri-Level Mind...
And speaking of Parker we've got X-Men: First Class with Bobby and Johnny Storm both running away from home to team-up and become New York's newest, awesomest hero team. Which would be great except this is apparently the last issue. Sure there's a Giant Size special planned and a new mini-series next month. But somehow the best X-book being put out couldn't get enough of a following to be an ongoing. For which I BLAME ALL OF YOU. YOU HAVE ALL FAILED ME AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Leaving Marvel we have Spike: After the Fall. With Spike being held captive by crazy super-natural women and tortured and occasionally macked on. Also Gunn. And Illyria loses her temper. And then ANOTHER guest appearance. Fun!
Mike Kunkel's 2nd issue of Billy Batson and the Magic of SHAZAM! finally comes out. With lil' Theo Adam trying to trick Billy into telling him the magic word that will let him become Black Adam...
And finishing up with G0dland. Sadly this starts the finally year of this series. Which is a pity because is the most cracked out kick-ass quasi-Kirby cosmic crazyness thing ever published. Something wonderful and three years is just not enough...
