Pride of Baghdad written by Brian K. Vaughn, art by Niko Henrichon, letters by Todd Klein
Pride of Baghdad tells the story of the four African lions that were in the Baghdad zoo during the Iraq invasion. And how they (and the rest of the animals) were "freed" by the American shelling of the city. And then the small pride wanders the ruins of Baghdad for a time. Its a pretty sad and grim story really...
Vaughn and Henrichon make you care about this small group of lions, make you hopeful and then yank the rug out from under you. Mean ol' bastards...
