While I'd say this is one of the better acted movies, I do think it suffers from a lack of focus. Mostly because it follows three different primary characters for much of the movie. I'd say the movie is strongest in the final act when it only follows Gyllenhaal's Robert Graysmith and his obsessive search. Oddly I think Downey is the weakest performance here, if only because we've all seen his drunk genius act so often...
