The Captain beats up a Dread Lord! Brand Echh's New Paramounts! "Do you think the letter on my chest stands for America?"! "You laugh at my hat. My. Hat. You will all die slowly for that."! Zombie Dirk Anger! 6 double page spreads in a row of pure AWESOME! Secret Twist Reveal! DOUBLE SECRET DOUBLE TWIST REVEAL!
Alas, dear Nextwave you were too beautiful for this poor, blighted world...
Then on to my pull list. Starting with a new 100 Bullets. With a day in the life of Sigmar Rhone, one of the Trust. And then several of the Minutemen cross a line where they go from protagonists, to mad dogs whose deaths I will applaud. Yes, I know that its been mentioned that this kind of action is what they were created for. But there are lines where you become a waste of skin pretending to be a human. And two of them most definitely cross it...
Then we move on to Fables, where Fabletown makes plans for war. And Prince Ambrose gathers an army from within the Witching Well. Of course the Empire has its own plans in the offing. While I'm hopeful about how this might all end, I'm reminded that the opening tag line for the series was "No more happily ever after". Just a bit of advertising? Or a reveal of a theme for the entire series?
Continuing with Vertigo we get to DMZ, where Matty interviews a high ranking U.S. officer who explains why Day 204 was inevitable. Plus a verdict is handed down...
Then its over to Marvel for this week's Annihilation: Conquest books. Starting with Wraith. Can't say I like Kyle Hotz' art much. But the story seems pretty solid so far. Some kind of undead dude is out for vengeance or something and the Phalanx is just in his way. The Kree Resistance wants to recruit him and the Phalanx want to absorb him. He mostly seems to want to kill some dude...
Then we go to Nova where Rich attempts to reach Hala, but piles of controlled Sentries are out to stop him. And then he makes a run for it and the Phalanx decide to send the assimilated Gamora after him...
