Well there are probably lots. But the big one right now? Obsessive completism. Where you feel the need to have EVERYTHING (or at least as close as possible) related to your fandom. Books, movies, Burger King toys, etc, etc, etc...

Especially bad when you discover something new and are teetering on the brink of fandom. For example, tonight I finished my first Robert B. Parker book, Playmates. A paperback edition published 4 years ago. Which lists 27 other Spenser books. Plus I remember there was a tv show. Which I bet is probably collected on DvD by now. It had the Sisko (Avery Brooks) as Hawk. And I see there are three books for a Jesse Stone series. And isn't that a series of TV movies on CBS? With Tom Selleck? I like Tom Selleck. Maybe those are out on DvD as well...

I mean look at that. Thats not right. Thats crazy behavior. I shouldn't be thinking, "But what can I move around to free up shelf space". I should be thinking library and netflix and it was just one book! I can stop! Stop anytime...

Do you think they made Spenser For Hire action figures?

A Jarmusch movie split into three parts set in Memphis. A young Japanese couple looking to visit the birthplace of Elvis, an Italian woman getting her dead husband shipped back home splits a room with an American woman leaving her boyfriend, and three loser friends get drunk. With all three stories converging on the seedy Arcade Hotel. Oddest bit (and this in a movie featuring the acting talents of Joe Strummer) is that none of the sequences in Japanese have subtitles...

Back from our first session. Shockingly Autumn did not make it (though her excuse of a family emergancy was a good one). But most of the night was spent getting characters done, always a lengthy task for the start-up, especially with only 1 rule book per 2 players. I decided to create a young human noble, highly skilled at combat but overly proud. To make him work in the group I also have him being bound by family oath AND fealty sworn to [profile] spoonyone's elf noble of the House of Feonor (sp?). [profile] kafeixuesheng is going with his dwarven mastersmith/enchanter concept. And the woman I hadn't met before (Jessica I think) has some kind of greenwood elf healer type...

We did establish where the campaign is starting and rumors of possible orcs behind our lines at the siege of Angbad. Next week things should begin to move forward...

The general purpose Josh seems to be going for is that as PLAYERS we know that we're all kind of screwed and doomed as its near the end of the 1st Age. But our CHARACTERS should still be motivated to try and prevent this partial fall into darkness. So our motivation is to gain as much Renown as possible, to become heroes known in later ages...
