New Comics Day

Another week, and once again my Transformers pull was short on the order. Oh well, they'll get more eventually. So only 3 pulls this week. And first up is the 3rd part of Shazam!: The Monster Society of Evil. With plenty of greedy, jerk Sivana and Captain Marvel beating on monsters. Also some set-up for a possible Billy Batson, Boy Reporter ending...

Then we've got the next Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Willow kicking some ass. And Buffy having a dream quest with Ethan of all people. Also a nice Spuffyngel full page spread for all you crazy ficcers out there...

And then its another 100 Bullets with Agent Graves and Dizzy finishing laying Shepard to rest. And Ronnie and Echo pretty much finish up the Italian Art Deal. Mostly. Also what is with stories set in Italy and scooters?

Last up, since it was a light week, grabbed the first trade for Blue Beetle with Keith Giffen still as writer. And Jaime's family is awesome...

Once Upon a Time in the West

Unlike Sergio Leone's other epic this one works. Its also about an hour shorter. Charles Bronson and Jason Robards both pull off the Western anti-hero very well. And Claudia Cardinale is very sexy (though her motivations for most of the third act confuse me). Plus I'm not really sure who legally owns the land at the end. Oh well, the story isn't perfect but with Leone its all about atmosphere and characters, which this has in spades...
