New Comics Day
Mar. 28th, 2007 02:59 pmIts the end of the month with the big haul that normally implies. Starting with a new Elephentmen. Which introduces hard bitten and cynical one-eyed Zebra Trench. Which sets up why I may be dropping the book already. This is a standerd length comic. Except almost 1/3 is back-up guest artist filler. And then some is writer babble and guest artist stroke. And then a little over half (13 pages) is regular story. 3 pages of which is flash back. This is part of what drives me away from Lost every season after a couple of episodes. Stop with the meaningless crap and TELL. THE. FUCKING. STORY.
Then we've got the next issue of G0dland, wherein the government puts the Archer's home on lockdown. And the Tormentor plots his big comeback. And those 3 freaky dudes plot, something Kirbyian in scope...
The Pirates of Coney Island. Murder? Check! Slumber party? Check! Cadillacula theft? Check! Taking sex & violence to a whole new teen angst level? Super Check!
Fables goes with a filler issue of short-short stories that answer some reader questions. Stuff on the difficulty of holding down a job, living in a library, asking oracles questions in rhyme and drunk-and-dialing your exes...
Next up over on DMZ Wood wraps up the "Public Works" story arc. And like all good journalists, Matty pisses off lots and lots of people...
With 100 Bullets we've got Graves telling Dizzy more about Sheppard. At the same time Ronnie just wants to buy a damn painting. And Echo keeps making it complicated. Man, I could use those kinds of complications...
On Transformers: Escalation Megatron and Prime square off. ONE SHALL STAND AND ONE SHALL FALL!!! Oh and Ironhide and the humans do stuff and Jazz and Hotrod do stuff and the Skywatch humans do stuff and some guy with a cowboy hat talks to a big shadowy, disembodied robot head. And who cares? PRIME vs. MEGATRON!
And we'll wrap up with the latest from ps238 where the teachers are starting to hear about the mysterious Moonshadow all the kids are talking about. Also some kind of alien probe thing comes crashing down. Plus Ron has difficulties dealing with hitting Charles a little while back, plus his parents divorce. All of which pales in comparison to the thought of Angie and Prospero pimpin' Zodon's ride...
