Mar. 21st, 2007 02:02 pmNothing from my pull list this week. So I decided to grab the new Army@Love by Rick Veitch. Sex + War = Potentially good. Though Veitch can be an odd one for sure...
Then I grabbed the newest Savage Dragon tpb, Resurection, bringing me one step closer to reaquiring the complete run I lost of the first 6 years of the comic...

Most of the session (after the GM arrived late) was spent on character creation. But we did get some brief game time in. We open with four strangers travelling by stage from a small town just north of Nogales, AZ and heading towards Tucson. Travelling preacher, Father John (
spoonyone; white man turned native scout, Hawkeye (Matt); teen gambler and Huckster, Sam (kid whose name I never caught) and ex-cattleman and trail boss Randolph "Runt" McCall (me). The stage was driven by grizzled oldster Calhoun, with Big Henry on rear guard and Jake on shotgun...
Jake and several heavy trunks fall off the stage after it runs over a large log. Sam manages to knock himself out at the same time. The rest of us pile out and check the area. Father John goes to check on Big Henry (who ended up with a broken leg). At the same time Hawkeye spots several "bushes" moving up on the stopped stage. And then a young boy named Jesus (a friend of Father John's from the orphanage he formerly served at) tumples out of one of the trunks while the "log" stands up...
Jake wounds one of the "bushes", while McCall blasts another with his .44-40 (49 total damage). And the padre calls down holy fire on the log sending it fleeing. The wounded "bush" then latches onto Jake. Hawkeye finishes off the fleeing "log", while Father John calls down the wrath again on Jake and the "bush". Luckily he is then able to pray for healing and fix the damage done to poor Jake. Unfortunately the coach driver was rendered catatonic from the shock of the monster attack. But McCall has some skills as a teamster and gets the coach moving again...
The group reach a coach station, only to find it abandoned. Hawkeye finds tracks leading in various directions, showing running horses. Seeing that they won't make Tucson before nightfall, they set up camp. With the lamed Henry on first watch with young Sam. Everyone is woken up by a scream from Henry who says he "swallowed a big bug". Meanwhile Sam gets in a fight with a big-ass bug that eventually latches onto him. Happily he manages to blow it up with a couple slung hexes. Henry begins to writhe in pain and moan about something crawling in him. So Father John tries to rid him of the parasite by feeding him lamp oil and then lighting it. Henry passes out from the pain and something is seen crawling around under the skin in his guts. So McCall cuts him open and stabs the bug. Sadly Henry didn't survive all that. But after that things were quiet and they get the stage to Tucson. Where a night is called on the session...
