Zatoichi Meets the One-Armed Swordsman

So the sword-fighting in this is good. And the kung-fu. And the story (dealing with an orphaned boy and his one-armed protector being chased by power-hungry samurai who fall in with Zatoichi) is interesting. But something about the movie just left me cold. Maybe it was the acting. Anyway I stopped watching about half-way thru, after Zatoichi rescues the farm girl. And I couldn't bring myself to care enough to start it back up again. So its possible I missed some awesome fourth act fight scene. Maybe the movie needed some comic relief character to break up the tension. *shrugs*
