Treasures of the Twillight Zone
Jan. 8th, 2007 12:59 amThree rarely seen episodes of the Twillight Zone. First is "The Encounter" an actual banned episode featuring George Takei as a young Japanese gardner working for an ex-Marine who fought in the Pacific. Pretty heavy handed for a TZ episode. In fact other than that it has a pre-Star Trek Takei in it and it was banned, I'd say its a pretty forgettable episode...
Next is "Where is Everybody?" You have a man wandering around an empty town, where all the people have just vanished. Even after the twist and denouement its simply average. Nothing terrible about it, but nothing truly great either...
But the last one. Thats "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge". A story by the Ambrose Bierce, adapted and directed by Robert Enrico and Director of Photography Jean Bofferty. Why mention the DoP? Because the cinematography is a vital part of this episode. The story is interesting, even if lacking much of the normal SciFi/Horror tropes involved in a TW episode. Its a gorgeously done episode and well worth tracking down...
