Dental exam
Oct. 13th, 2005 01:43 pmHad my first real dental exam/cleaning in like...5 years? At least that, probably more. It was unpleasant of course but the news was basically good. No cavaties or major problems. Got the usual advice on brushing and flossing, and the proper way to do them. Was told there was some inflamation of my gums and towards the back they were around 4 mm instead of the 2-3 mm they should be at. Also being diabetic means I have to be more careful about any kind of infection. But that wasn't really unexpected. Only annoying thing was finding out that my older fillings (the metal ones) look like they need to be replaced...
Apparantly the varnish they were sealed with wears away, leaving spacing between the filling and the tooth. In fact of the five metal fillings, the two oldest and largest are showing some signs of decay already. So I'll have to talk to mom about that, see how to work the finances to get that fixed. Which is definately something I'm not looking forward to in the least...
