Websnark aka
demiurgent has recently put up several of his inbetween journal stuff onto the beginning of his regular non-LJ blog. And one of those old entries is about Heinlein . Which leads me to a confession. One that may harm my standing as ScienceFiction nerd.
I don't get Heinlein. At all. I've read various of his novels, and maybe I'm just reading the wrong ones. Maybe I should grab a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land and read that. And then I'll understand the genius that is Heinlein.
But I found Starship Troopers intresting but not spectuclar, was VASTLY disappointed by Farnum's Freehold, hate The Cat who Walks thru Walls with a rabid passion and was mildly entertained by Friday.
Then again I've only read Asimov's short stories and essays and never got around to his novels.
And I found Clarke to be a dissapointment as well...
Maybe its the whole "Golden Age" of sci-fi I'm not getting...
