A review of "Timmy Kat" by Mel Hynes and James L. Grant
cut and pasted from the review I put on ComixPress
I hate writing average reviews of something. I'm thrilled to have something new and wonderful to share, or something horrid to warn people away from. But "Timmy Kat" doesn't fall into either of those categories.
The art is cute and the story is, I suppose, nice enough. But I was expecting more story wise. From the hints James Grant dropped in his journal, from the intro and foreword, from the reviews of others, even from James' previous work on Flem.
All this led me to expect a story horrorfying in its wrongness. Something that would leave me stunned and amazed that someone would DARE to write it.
But the "surprise" ending wasn't and neither was it terribly shocking. So while the book is nice enough I can't really recomend it.
