So I decided to splurge and go to Amazon and actually *gasp* order something...

So I went and placed an order for the new Pratchett book and a pair of cds (MC Lars and the new Flogging Molly)...Should get them next week sometime most likely with free shipping...

Of course that leaves me with like 100 bucks for the next week and a half...Gonna have to really watch my spending at Ye Old Comics Shop next couple days...

So I forgot about the direct withdrawel I have set up for the 28th...The one thats supposed to help me un-default my student loan...

Which means I've got 40 bucks 'till next Friday...Not 100...Well 30 now that I bought some comics...

So only three titles this week...Oh and a free issue of Hellboy: the Corpse, which is a nice little bonus...

Got the new Outsiders which is starting a storyline involving a child slavery ring and John Walsh / AMW..Looks to be intresting, even if I'm still trying to figure out HOW Jade and Starfire know each other to be friends...Maybe from when Star worked as a model back in the Perez Titans days?

PVP as always is mostly expanded versions of previous online strips...Still its Skull the Genius and Francis gets an Ipod, which are freaking hilarious...

PS238 looks to be beginning their first "serious" story arc...And woah it looks to be pretty heavy...

So [livejournal.com profile] drakinfar  was asking for some recomends to get back into comics...

So 1st up so finished titles, where you can go and buy the trades at your own pace.  No monthly waits, complete story arcs.

Starman by James Robinson, one of the best super-hero comics put out in a LONG ass time.  The entire 88 issue run (plus occasional annuals) is available in TPB form.  A reluctant 2nd generation DC hero with a huge and amazing cast of supporting cast of characters.  With a story that extends from the end of the Old West era to journeys into the stars.  Great villians.  Great flawed good guys.  This was one of the best things DC did in the 90s.

Bone by Jeff Smith.  First up this series was GORGEOUS.  A tale of 3 little white almost Smurf like guys who wander into a small Valley community and have adventures.  With dragons.  And monsters.  And cow-races.  This series was sweet and beatiful and dark and unbelievable.  The trades are available from Cartoon Books.

Next up two more mature audiences books.  The first is Garth Ennis' Preacher.  I can't even attempt to describe this one.  It involves angels, demons, gods, supernatural unstoppable gunslingers, vampires, vast conspiracies and Texas.  Flip thru this one in the store.  In fact flip thru a couple of the trades.  'Cause this one is likely to offend.  But its one amazing read.

Lastly Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis.  A vaguely cyberpunkish book.  About an oped journalist written by one of craziest people in comics.  One heck of a ride.  Another one where you should look the books over before deciding whether or not to get them.

Later I'll point out some ongoing titles that are worth checking out.
