I have a cell phone. But I can honestly say that I held out for *YEARS* before giving in.

The incident that made me decide that I should get one was when a bus I was taking got stuck in a traffic jam for over two hours... and I had previously arranged for a couple of friends of mine to drive into town to pick me up. I felt badly that my friends were stuck waiting for me at the bus stop for so long; if I had a cell phone, I could have called them far enough in advance so that they wouldn't have driven into town until the traffic jam had cleared. So when I found an affordable pre-paid cell phone plan, I bought one.

That all being said -- I agree that not everybody needs a cell phone, and I am sick to death of hearing people ranting and cursing in public on these things. I can honestly say that I *ONLY* use the thing when time is of the essence... and most of the time, I'm calling to give very useful information to the person on the other end of the line.
