You can go to this site : http://www.countmeout.ie/ and get information on officially defecting from the Catholic church. Otherwise you are still on the rolls. Even if you haven't gone to church in years.
Apparently excommunication won't get you off the rolls.
I've been trying to find a good way to 'leave' the church over this issue, even though I haven't been in over two decades. This is my current plan and I am trying to get others in on it. Let's start a movement!
I'll look into this. Admittedly, most internet-based protest sites don't have any real direct effect, but if they provide info on how to contact the appropriate parties to get my opinion across that is definitely useful.
Kevin also says that you should buy a cell phone and join the text revolution, so that he could tell you this stuff himself, rather than relaying through me. Alternatively, you could call him and tell him your new phone number ;P
I have a phone. People are free to call it. I don't see any reason to carry one around with me. And he has my phone. I know this because he's managed to call me in the past...
I don't understand why people think a "land line" is somehow less reliable than a cell phone because you're not always there to receive the call. I have a personal cell phone, and I find it useful to have said phone. But it annoys me no end when someone calls me during business hours on my cell and they are calling about a personal matter which is not urgent. Furthermore, quite a few callers have gotten more than a little peeved when I let the call go to voice mail because I was in a meeting. I'm sorry, but unless the issue involves the potential loss of life, limb or *SERIOUS* money (3+ figures), IT CAN WAIT! Just leave a friggin' message and I'll get back to you.
I know, I know. And don't feel that this was a slight. I got the invite in a text, which consisted of "You're in the wedding on May 15th. Wear grey, or something," so I don't think they're going too high-brow with it. :) At least I gussied up the wordage! (It would've worked better if I could remember Cindy's lat name. Is it Summers?) Also,Jim Butcher's Changes just arrived at my house, so I have to stop typing now.
Why am I not surprised?
