Friend shadowkate had her first baby today, a six lb boy named David-Micheal. Or was it Micheal-David? Either way he's gonna be getting screwed on the 'ol birthday presents. Just like my stepfather who also had his birthday today. Stupid Jeebus, reducing the amounts of yearly loot...

Speaking as a December child myself, I have to add the worst part--parties...more to the point, the lack thereof. Not only are parents reluctant to send friends out into the December weather for something as silly as a birthday party, they will also have their kids refuse to invite any kid who hasn't hosted their kid first. Vicious cycle. Unbreakable. I haven't had a birthday party since I was two, and had only been invited to a couple in my childhood.
