New Comics Day 1/8 & 1/15
Jan. 21st, 2014 04:49 pmWell, four issues in and I think I'll be giving up on Hinterkind. Its post-apocalyptic/Fae war setting is interesting, but I just don't have any investment in any of the still surviving characters...
I am interested in following along further with the Dead Boy Detectives and their latest project, The Case of the Poor Little Rich Girl. Well thats what I'm calling their case...
I love how easily Confessor, Samaritan and Winged Victory fall into the DC Trinity roles in Astro City Also that Winged Victory has an enemy list that includes someone named Mama Spank...
Daredevil gets given a job offer by the Sons of the Serpent, gets some advice from Elektra, fights a redesigned Constrictor and Mamba of the Serpent Society (who are mercs and not racist cultists) and makes a life decision to lead into the more expensive title relaunch...
And Young Avengers concludes their wrap party with dancing, confessionals, make-outs and the fairly anti-climatic return of Speed...
Its a Diehard themed issue of Prophet, with him telling a story of one of his adventures during the centuries wandering the stars...
As part of clearing her name, Velvet breaks into an East European prison as part of trying to clear her name and discover what happened with agent X-14...
While the Rat Queens have revealed who was behind the anti-adventurer assassins, now they've got an army of bitter monsters attacking the town in revenge for all those dungeon raids...
I can not for the life of me remember what the name of the bug-themed ex-villain working with the Guardians of the Globe's covert team in Invincible Universe. But he doesn't really do much this issue, as Best Tiger essetianlly re-buries the evil space godling while the escaped Wolf-Man confronts Red Eye again..
Fatale finishes up Book Four and the attempted rock band comeback story with lots of blood, death and unexplained weird occult rituals...
Princess Bubblegum and Marceline solve the threat of the Gigantic Gum Blob and its mind control. This solution involves Jake doing invasive brain procedures and squeezing the juices from Lemongrab...
Adventure Time: the Flip Side starts a six-issue story of Finn & Jake adventuring and stuff written by Colleen Coover & Paul Tobin. And while Wook Jin Clark is a nice enough artist, I do still wish Coover had been doing the art chores here...
And finally Knights of the DInner Table. The main strip story continues to be the UT+1 returning to the resting place of the doom blade Carvin' Marvin. But the bigger story is the photo cover that ties into a group doing a webisode series of Live-Action KoDT...
