Looking back over the year I don't think I've ever got into and then burned out on a series as quickly as I did binging on the "Kris Longknife" books. I still like that idea of using actual ice as space armor vs. lasers...
Ben H. Winters' Last Policeman and Daniel Abraham's "the Dagger & the Coin" are probably the two stand-outs for new finds from the year, though there were quite a few other good books...
From the free range short fiction the ones that still stick with me the most are probably Joe Hill's Twittering From the Circus of the Dead which still creeps me out, the steampunk/Western Terrain, by Genevieve Valentine is one where I most want to see a full length story or series and Eric Burns-White Prosperina reminds me how much I wish he didn't so frequently fade away from writing online...
