Apr. 3rd, 2012 09:53 pmI'd say what best sums up this movie is "Tries to hard". To much effort at being clever. Roberts tries to hard to be both Super Wicked and Dryly Witty. And tries to hard to subvert genre conventions...
Not that everything was bad. Nearly all the scenes involving the Seven Dwarves are good. They make their action sequences and group banter seem pretty effortless and natural. Armie Hammer (who was the Winklevoss twins in the Social Network) does a pretty nice job as the Prince. Though you spend much of the movie wondering what about the smug git is so enchanting to Snow White. And much of the second half's story falls together and runs smoother than in the first half...
Oh and there is cute Bollywood dance number over the end credits. That was nice...
