New Comics Day 5/12/10
May. 13th, 2010 06:58 amSavage Dragon wraps up the whole "Dragon War" arc with Emperor Kurr stone-cold killing a bunch of dudes. Mostly because he's an evil jerkface. Also what the hell is up with Angel's outfit? Is the ensembles hideousness meant to draw attention away from her freakish giant hands?
Also finishing up this week is Avengers: The Initiative. Where I learn that Molina can't draw a human baby. Tigra's half-Skrull/half-cat-person baby looks fine. The Hood's normal human baby looks like a freakish chibi doll version of it's mom. Plus his version of Vance kind of creeps me out though I'm not sure why. Props to Gage for being the only person for the last several years to remember that Tigra's fucking NYPD...
Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers Unleashed. The Pet Avengers and a bunch of mythological creatures team-up with a hippo to fight a demon/giant/monster thing apparently made out of wood. Also the back-up with Blue Hulk. Is there actually a Blue Hulk now? I don't follow the Hulk books because half of them are written by Jeph Loeb (and I see this back-up is written by an Audrey Loeb). But this strip has a very adorable Blue Hulk. I mean artist Dario Brizuela doesn't quite match the levels of adorableness Hulkness of Chris G, Colleen Coover or Katie Cook, but he's pretty good...
I like how the first two pages of Unwritten have the pseudo-DNN obsessing over the pseudo-Harry Potter new "Tommy Taylor" while the newsfeed crawl is just full of the most horrible stuff that everyone should be paying attention to...
This month's daytripper is about a plane crash and Bras being tasked with writing the obituaries for the people who died during it...
And finally Fables presents the original Snow White/Rose Red story. With its enchanted bear and wicked dwarf and how that ties into Snow and Rose's future adventures...
