New Comics Day 9/16/09
Sep. 16th, 2009 04:11 pmYay! My Empowered vol.5 finally arrived. Only a month late, but at least it was free...
Angel is the second part of Juliet Landau's Drusilla story. Which leads up to Dru in Hell Angeles. Seems crazy vampire seers got a better deal during that...
Hizzoner continues to prepare for his White House run in Ex Machina while the new Avatar of the White begins moving forward with its sender's plan. The one Mayor Hundred (aka the Great Machine, aka the Avatar of the Green) hasn't been moving forward the way he was supposed to...
Wednesday Comics is almost to the end. This week has bad ass moments for Hal in "Green Lantern", Rock in "Sgt. Rock" and Aquaman in "Hawkman". I'm really going to miss this when it ends next week. Well not the "Teen Titans" or "Superman" stories. Because those sucked. But the rest...
Over in Fables Baba Yaga runs amok in the remains of the Fabletown offices. And Frau Totenkinder prepares for a journey and a possible future battle...
From Evan Dorkin and artist Jill Thompson we have the first part of Beasts of Burden. Which is about dogs who protect their neighborhood from monsters. Dorkin and Thompson have had previous stories with these dogs in the Dark Horse "Book of..." series. Where they dealt with witch familiars and werewolves and shit. This is quality stuff here and everyone should go get it. Go on. I'll be here until you're done...
From Marvel is the "final" issue of Parker's to-good-for-stupid-stupid-super hero-comics-fans Agents of Atlas. Though there is an upcoming mini where they deal with the X-Men. And then after that its supposed to become a back-up for the Hercules book. Oh well. One less book to buy I suppose...
And finally Ryan Dunlavey brings M.O.D.O.K. Reign Delay. Where everyone's favorite giant head gets sent to his old home town by Norman Osborn for being annoying. Where he and several of his minions move in with his parents. Because, hey, free rent!
