New Comics Day 8/19/09
Aug. 21st, 2009 04:41 pmA light week for this delayed New Comics Day, with only four titles. So, since I had some quarterly bonus money as well, I grabbed the second Rex Libris collection. Because who doesn't love stories of butt kicking librarians?
From the pull list though, first up is Jack of Fables, which aside from a brief look in on the nominal "hero" of the book, then focuses on Jack Frost. Young Jack travels back to the Homelands to look for a new purpose to his life...
Ex Machina brings 2004 to a close and many secrets are revealed. The purpose behind Hundred and Phearson's gifts is discovered, though it leaves as many questions as it answers. And reporter Suzanne Padilla gets "gifted" as well...
Invincible concludes the Conquest arc with a funeral, some hospital visits and by looking in on a couple of the remaining threats. And then has a letter column mostly about people yelling at Kirkman over issue sixty-three and Eve's apparent fate in that...
And finally Wednesday Comics. Whats new to say? I think the "Teen Titans" story is actually getting dumber. And somehow Arcudi and Bermejo make a fight between Superman and several hulking aliens..dull. On the other hand "Strange Adventures" has an appearance by Dr. Fate. Paul Pope needs to be given more mainstream work ASAP. I'd love to see him do something with Marvel's cosmic line...
