Sure that isn't a high bar, but its clever and funny enough as well as having stuff exploding and guns and running and a cute kid. Ok, so the kids a giant bug, but still he was cute in a Pixar adorable vermin kind of way. I enjoyed it though my mom was annoyed since it had more people getting shot so hard they exploded then she likes...
The basic setup is that an alien ship comes to Earth and basically parks itself over Johannasburg in South Africa 20 years earlier. Eventually the local government cuts their way into the ship and discovers it seems to be full of the equivalent to boat people refugees. They get set up in a relief camp that slowly turns into a detainment camp and then a slum. Eventually, under public pressure, the government agrees to move the million plus aliens to a newer, "better" home several hundred km away from the city. And the leave that up to a fictional corporation that was in charge of the District security and alien/human relations already...
The lead character is a typical bureaucrat recently promoted to suprevise the eviction and move of the aliens. He's a little dumb and somewhat petty and in charge more because of office politics and nepotism than actual talent...
The movie is also shot in a pseudo-documentary style that seems to be popular right now. Though it does manage to do that in a way that isn't annoying or a constant barrage of shakycam...
