The Visitor

Richard Jenkins is a lonely widower and college professor Walter Vale. He goes to his apartment in New York and finds that an illegal immigrant couple, Tarek and Zainab, is living there. Jenkins befriends the couple and they help him regain some of the energy that had fallen out of his life. When Haaz Sleiman's Tarek is picked up by INS Walter forms a bond with the the Tarek's mother, played by Hiam Abbass. This movie is pretty much the definition of bittersweet. There is no happy ending, just one lost and lonely person finding something to live for in new friendships...
