Jun. 13th, 2009 07:55 pmWhy do I have the feeling that the remake out this week won't even be close to as good as the original? I mean it is possible for a remake to be as good or better. But as much as I like Denzel I don't see him in the Walter Mathieu role. Plus the gimmick of the heist will need to be modified as technology changes. Hell, they've upped the ransom amount from what I can tell by the commercials. That alone would require a change in the getaway just for the larger number of bills. I guess they could try and do some electronic transfer instead...
Still, classic action/thrillers like this never seem to translate well to a more modern setting. So those thinking of going out to the remake, I'd say watch the original first at least...
