Good morning all and its time for a delayed New Comics Day! Starting with a book from last week, the 2nd X-Men First Class: Finals. Store didn't have the first one still in stock sadly. But this continues with the original group of X-Men facing off against one of their opponents from the previous run as well as deciding what they want to do as graduation approaches. PLUS a back-up story by Parker/Coover of Scott and Jean on a date. I never noticed how big and rectangular men's heads were when drawn by Coover...

Also I decided to grab Marvel Apes: Speedball. The original Marvel Apes mini didn't really interest me. But a story about the banished chimp Speedball in the Initiative? That I wanted to see. Its nice enough. Has the Red Ghost and his Super Apes and a kid with a magic luchador mask that turns him into a gorilla. Sadly, though its a one-shot, its also part of a series of four one-shots involving the Marvel Apes world. And from the epilogue it looks like the Marvel Zombies one as well. So this year, in the background of War of Kings and Dark Reign, there is something going on with Zombies. And Apes. And given the planned MZ4 book Man-Thing and the Crossroads of Worlds. Almost enough to make me want to look into it all the monkey/ape based crazyness further...

This months Guardians of the Galaxy steps away from the War of Kings cross-over to check in with Drax and Quasar in some pocket adjunct 'verse to the afterlife. All part of their quest to try and find the "dead" Moondragon. Where they encounter the deadly MAELSTROM! Yeah, I don't know who that is either. I'm guessing a Starlin-era cosmic bad-guy that I don't feel like Wiki-ing to find out about...

On a lighter super-heroic note, ps238 features a soccer match between some of the students of ps238 and those of Praetorian Academy. Including ex-ps238er Ron "Captain Clarinet" Peterson, now going by Argonaut. Plus Moonshadow, the Flea and Cecil encounter the Academy's enigmatic Headmaster...

A bit late to be fully topical anymore, but Kyle Baker finishes up Special Forces with a literal explosive bang. Farewell Zone and Felony, we salute your patriotism...

Sadly this is probably the most..average..Fables I can recall. With nearly everyone still in shock from Blue's final fate the whole issue just seems to stagger along...

The same can't be said for DMZ which closes the War Powers arc. After learning about Parco's purchase to make New York into a nuclear power Matty reaches a decision about what to do next...

Another Ex Machina Special issue. This one with a crazed gardner and a bit of an environmental message. I should probably dig out the previous three of these and see if all of them added a "villain" for Mayor Hundred...

And lastly a new Top 10: Season Two. Irma visits the precinct shrink, Pete seems to being having charge problems and the new Commissioner is less in charge than he wants people to think...
