Ugh. So very, very, very, very, very, very tired. Work needed me to swap a day off with another co-worker for the week. So I've been up awhile now. But enough of my exhausted mumblings. Lets look at my comics. Except for Empowered, vol4. Which Diamond shorted my store on. Again. Hopefully next week. Though I did get my Amazon order with Ellis' novel and the 3rd Manhunter trade...

As for my pulls, average sized week. Starting with another Eliopoulos and Sumerak Franklin Richards one-shot. Franklin Richards Sons of Geniuses. Franklins of a hundred worlds! Robot alternates! Genius monkeys! Super-child of "ordinary" parents! Something green with antenna! Fun all-ages stuff...

Then another one-shot, this time for Avengers: The INitiative, which is set post-Secret Invasion and follows up on the Hydra plant and Hardball and Komodo relationship plot lines. And a back-up story detailing Trauma's origin. Nice twist reveal on the secret source of his ability...

And again a surprisingly enjoyable zombie comic in the new Marvel Zombies 3. Jocasta and Machine Man on Zombie Earth. Which seems to be at the point in between when the "heroes" of the first book leave for space at the end of the first series and return in the second. With the super-villain zombies being led by Zombie Kingpin, who has found a partial solution to feeding them while they try to find a way to invade 616 Earth...

And some final Marvel with another Power Pack mini, Wolverine/Power Pack, which goes back to the creative team of Sumerak and GuriHiru. And has the Pack and Wolverine teaming up to fight Sauron in the NY Natural History Museum...

From DC we've got a new Secret Six. Sadly I think the "funny" bits with Bane trying to be fatherly to Scandal fall pretty flat. Also the mysterious Junior starts to live up to his hype a bit. And a really nice fight between the "heroes" and Cheetah. Never really thought about how tought she could be. Oh and the reveal of what the McGuffin is? Nice...

Also a new Army@Love: The Art of War. Where I'm not even going to try and explain all the intersecting plot lines. Theres Olde magics and sleep-overs and invisible cars and, of course, sex...

And we finish with Top 10: Season Two. Which is AMAZINGLY good considering Moore's lack of involvement. I mean just the new micro-managing Commisioner and how he probably makes the 10ers long for a drug-addicted Super-Woman...

While the majority of California voters decided to give in religious sponsored small-minded bigotry, there is a chance the whole thing will be invalidated. See it seems the proper procedures weren't followed before putting it on the ballot and so the ACLU has filed writ against it...

The California Constitution itself sets out two ways to alter the document that sets the most basic rules about how state government works. Through the initiative process, voters can make relatively small changes to the constitution. But any measure that would change the underlying principles of the constitution must first be approved by the legislature before being submitted to the voters. That didn't happen with Proposition 8, and that's why it's invalid.

So I come home and there are bits of lint and/or dust all over my bed. Now some might think its because the heat's come on for the first time and so all kinds of crap got blown out the ducts. But thats bull. Obviously while I'm at work my roommate is bringing home cheap Muppet sluts and having sex with them on my bed...

Oh he'll pay. He'll pay...

I was actually a little disappointed in this one. Don't get me wrong, the movie is no where NEAR anything that could be described as bad. Its just its only Pretty Damn Good. And with JMS as the writer and Eastwood directing it should have been Jaw-Droppingly Fucking Amazing. I'm sure everyone has the basics of the story already. Jolie is a single mom in late '20s Los Angeles. She comes home from work to find her son is missing. Later LAPD return a boy to her, claiming its her son, even though he doesn't even VAGUELY resemble him. Four inches shorter, different hair color, mannerisms, etc. Jolie's mom attempts to get LAPD to admit their mistake. They have her committed...

I'm neither a Jolie fan or a hater, but she's quite good here. Especially when dealing with being institutionalized or pleading with Juvenile division Captain J.J. Jones (Jeffery Donovan, one of the two stand-out roles in this). Malkovitch is also in it as a crusading priest, who uses his radio broadcast to attack the LAPD for their corrupt and violent ways (and the LAPD right now is pretty nasty. Their chief creates a squad of the most brutal officers who go around just gunning people down who might be competition for the police's control over L.A.s organized crime)...

The other stand-out actor is Jason Butler Harner as Gordon Northcott, a rancher who ends up playing a central role in the who story...

Like I said, its well worth seeing. But if I were a rating type of person I'd say it never gets above an 8, when its pedigree says it should have been a 10...
